Project Description

Originally started a class project, this web site quickly grew with features and interest. Apparently this type of site was heavily in demand since most of the sites doing it previously were using more labor-intensive methods.

Goals

  • Allow users to search for rooms/homes/apartments/real estate on a Google Map
  • Allow users to search by the same parameters as they could on Craigslist, and have the results pulled in dynamically from Craigslist.com
  • Sell points on the map that have a set expiry date and can even automatically grab the data directly from Craigslist from a simple URL. The system is hooked up through the PayPal IPN (Instant Payment Notification) system for complete automation.

Results

  • The site has been expanded to a world market.
  • Many new features have been added including the ability to upload and view photos, and a JSON powered administrative back-end for maintenance.
