Create cool graffiti with Flash

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

It says: DYLAN

This is one of the coolest things I have used in a while. A Graffiti Creator that does exactly what it says: creates graffiti. Although the components appear to be pretty set and hard coded, the overall experience is superior and I haven’t seen anything remotely capable of creating this anywhere else. The only concern for me on this would of course be scalability, as right now they have to make a new flash movie for each font. I would like to encompass all fonts into a single editor, along with all other effects. The fact that it’s not done this way already questions it’s structure, but it’s a fun tool nonetheless and I’ll continue to show it off to friends. I hope they come out with a more robust master version.

Microsoft PhotoSynth hits the spot

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

A team over at Microsoft Live Labs has created PhotoSynth, which is a revolutionary way to view photos online. It can use the combination of different media to show an unlimited amount of data on the screen in stunning visual layouts. Unfortunately there’s only a few ‘collections’ in their system so far, but what they’ve done so far is nothing short of amazing. The things I really find interesting about this system is how it “guesses” pixels to paint a 3-D picture in the background. Also, how they display the camera angles do really put in perspective where the person was at when the shot was taken. It almost feels like jumping around a famous location and soaking it all in. Enough of what I think, see for yourself.
